COMBO – The Colorado Music Business Organization

In Memoriam|

Bill Brennan: This is so hard, losing our buddies. Rob Mclerran was a super sweet guy, loved his family and friends, loved to play music, and loved to laugh. When I first moved out here in ’79, Junior used to get me to drive up from Denver in snowstorms to the Hi Lo to play with him, Teddy Carr and Rob; nobody’d be there, but they’d come back next to the drums and help me find my way into deep pockets. Rob, Bones, and I (around that time) played the Pioneer with Paula, another unique and soulful experience, as were some gigs with RO and Rob; then Rob and I joined Spencer Bohen for a number of road gigs, rehearsing at Spencer’s warm house and riding as our trio in Spencer’s van. Those were special and good times. Rob really was a friend. We talked a couple summers ago, reminiscing and catching up, and somehow I thought we’d all just go on and on. This is a sad time here. I hope his family and loved ones can find some comfort in the love that surrounded him, and in knowing how truly cared for he was by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace.

Kevin Dooley: Sad, sad news of the loss of this fixture of the music scene in Boulder when I first arrived. Loved his playing and spirit. What a great loss tho glad he shared much music. Rest in peace, Rob. | https://www.facebook.com/studebakerhawk

OTHER NOTABLE MUSICIANS’ DEATHS

Chelsea Kuhn: RIP Bobby Bane. You Truly were one of the weirdest and coolest singers in Denver.

Hippie Werewolves: We would like to say goodbye to one of the strangest and most creative frontmen of the 90s Denver music scene. You will be missed Bobby Bane. Our hearts [go] out to his loved ones, and all those fans and friends in the Denver music scene who are mourning his passing.

Conrad Kehn: Today’s listening. RIP Bobby Bane.
You were always such a striking figure on the stage. Jack Skellington before there was one.
Loved the shows we did together in a different time and place. Santa Fe warehouses full of ghosts.
