Erica Brown on Jack Yoder: Never has my heart been heavier than to announce such painful news. On the morning of Thursday, August 20th, we lost Jack Yoder to a heart attack at the age of 58. Jack was a kind and generous friend, son, brother, uncle and an incredibly talented artist. Jack leaves behind a loving family and an eclectic group of friends, coworkers and bandmates who will miss him beyond words. We still have our fond memories and Jack’s abundant catalog of music and artwork to commemorate him. We will post information on a celebration of life as soon as possible.

Carla Jordan: NO. NO. NO. I cannot accept this as a truth. I was with him at the hospital in Memphis when he had a heart attack on a jam stage on Beale Street several years ago. I thought they fixed his heart issues there. Please tell me this is not true. Please.
Songwriters at the Speakeasy: A couple days after our Songwriters at the Speakeasy show last week, our guest Jack Yoder died from a heart attack. It’s shocking and mind-blowing news to us. We can only imagine the shock, loss and grief that his family, friends, and the musicians he has played with are going through. I had such a great time finally getting to meet him and play music together last week. It was clear to me that Jack was, to quote Steve Earle, a hardcore troubadour. We all got to witness his songwriting and performing magic firsthand. His kin and pals would like any video that is out there from the Speakeasy show. Ryan Chrys: For those that don’t know, Jack passed away. Many of you know he was a member of the Rough Cuts, before leaving to pursue his solo albums. I first saw Jack in the scene many years ago, and I recruited him to the Rough Cuts because I was such a fan of his playing. ..he played his ass off every show and was a hell of a road warrior and a fantastic bandmate. Many wonderful memories as we toured the country, Detroit to Nashville to San Diego to Seattle and everywhere inbetween, we traveled far and never lost track of the mission. Later, the solo albums he released and the songs he wrote… just absolutely fantastic singer, songwriter, and player. We recorded three Rough Cuts albums together, Western Abyss, which he also created and painted the cover art, he was a great hand artist. And Tears and Blades, he played steel and guitar, and Sun Studio Cuts which we recorded live in Memphis. He played bass on a few of our tours as well. All that aside his strength undoubtedly was in his own songs and recordings. Those of you that listened, know. I wish you safe passage Jack, you will shine forever in your and our recordings. its a crushing loss to Colorado’s music scene.
