Joey Shapiro, drummer for the band XYZ, on Facebook: Forgive me. I am writing this now from a place of sadness, confusion and anger. I awoke this morning to learn our dear family friend of 40+ years was one of the 10 people killed in my hometown of Boulder, Colorado yesterday. If any of you had a meal at my mom Nancy’s Restaurant in the ‘80s-‘90s you would have known our beautiful friend and employee Suzanne Fountain.
I hear all the time from our higher ups that we are “the greatest nation in the world”… well how about we act like it and get our shit together when it comes to mental health. It should have never come to this that some sick lunatic senselessly could do this to our friends, loved ones and their families.
Rest In Peace, Suzanne. Maybe someday our society will do right by you and get unwell people the help they need early on before it comes to something like what happened yesterday. We love you.
