The way the COMBO Board wants to remember our drummer Lee Bagby. Such a great, friendly, really nice man.
COMBO Board Member Daryl Leroy (Lee) Bagby left us suddenly and without warning. He was born June 10, 1956 in Richmond, Virginia and entered eternal rest on March 4, 2021. We just received this note from his sister Avis Bagby:
Lee passed away on 3/04/2021. He bumped his toe in January. It got infected and they had to amputate his foot and it got worse. He told me he didn’t think he was gonna leave the hospital alive. Two days later he was gone.
He loved you guys – he talked about the organization all the time.
Do you know Bill Valdez, Janice O’Brien or “Chops”? Let them know. [Avis left a phone number. Please call the COMBO office at 720-570-2280 and leave a message. We will return your call and pass the number onto you.]
They can please call me. Lee was talking about [all of you] before he passed away.
I appreciate you responding.
Lee loved Colorado. He loved all of his friends. He said you guys were awesome people and he enjoyed his time with y’all.

Lee retired from the Navy after many years. He moved to Colorado from Richmond, VA after his service and wanted his ashes scattered over the mountains. Lee had 6 siblings and will be joining two of them plus his parents in Heaven.
Lee loved the arts and belonged to some other arts communities here in Colorado. Avis did not know which ones and she’d love to have that information. Private family services have already been held but the family asks that you donate to your favorite arts charity in Lee’s name if you want to do something in his honor.
Funny story: Lee’s family moved into a white house after having lived in the projects for many years. One day they came home to find that Lee had painted a BIG “Black Power” mural on the side of the house. His mom was not a happy camper about that at all! Avis said it was an awesome mural but she did not have a photo of it.
Lee was not married and had no children but leaves a large, loving family including an uncle who lives in Springfield, Colorado.
