COMBO – The Colorado Music Business Organization

In Memoriam|

Photo: Mike & Dylan Mark | Dylan Mark writes: Today at 1p.m. with peace, strength, and speed, Michael Mark took his final breath. This is Dylan, his proud, sad, and unbelievably grateful son. I had the dumb luck to stumble into a person I’d rank as the best dad ever. I aspire to his heights in my own parenthood.

My dad got sick in early September and fought valiantly. He was a champion with incredible grit and will. Until he absolutely couldn’t, he was telling jokes, making people smile, and enjoying life. He triumphed many times in the face of death previously and it finally caught up to him.

He lived 77 years and I had the honor of sharing 35 with him. My dad was funny, thoughtful, witty, stubborn, resilient, loving, and so much more. He leaves us as a proud grandpa of two kids he cherished so much. He was an excellent photographer, loved music (especially the blues), traveled widely, was a connoisseur of sushi, a recovering addict with 42 impressive clean years under his belt, a business owner, a family man, a great friend, and much more.

I’m so sorry to share this news with you all. I love my dad so much and feel I had so much more to do with him. I’m comforted that he went peacefully, that he enjoyed life deeply, that he has so many people that love him, and that his passing alleviates a lot of physical suffering he accumulated through the years. Seriously, the number of conditions he pushed through daily would debilitate an ox.

At this point we would love to host a celebration of life soon but we don’t have that planned yet.

You are welcome to message me and to post photos, memories, thoughts about dad. I’ll be eating those up as I work through the heartache of losing such a great human.

I love you to the moon and back pops. ~ Dylan

Michael was a photographer and loved “shooting” bands and musicians.

Michelle Castillo: We lost one of our friends yesterday. Michael was a kind soul, he was passionate about his family, his art, and standing up for human rights. He captured this photo during my IBC audition. A special moment in my life that he helped memorialize. May you rest in power.
