In Memoriam|

Robert “Bob” Herrera passed on November 27th in Trinidad. Bob was a DJ who created the Power Surge Show on KCRT Radio on Friday nights which had the BEST format for a radio show. Bob would intersperse hard rock and metal songs from national, signed bands with those of local, unsigned bands so that a local band like Havok would be played back to back with Metallica and Slipknot giving people a chance to hear other music and talented bands.

When KCRT began to sponsor the Country Showdown singing contests, Bob took on the job of learning to run a soundboard which was then used for many community events. He loved the radio station and was great at meeting people and making friends. He will be truly missed by the KCRT family and all in the Trinidad and Raton areas.

Kendra Doherty: I’m so sad to hear of your passing, Robert Herrera. You were truly a one of a kind guy and we all were blessed to have known you. You were a legend in the radio business and always put the smile on my face when I went in for a Relay interview. I will continue to fight back against cancer for you and everyone! Prayers to his KCRT family, family and friends.

Barb Dye: OMG! I just happened to read about your passing, Bob. You were THE BEST! I cannot say enough good words about you and how friendly you were… How you created Power Surge and gladly accepted any local, original metal band and promoted them on your show… How you jumped right in and became an awesome sound man… and took on the Country Showdown contest. You were so enthusiastic and patient in trying to explain KCRT’s new powerful broadcast equipment to me. I so looked forward to visiting with you whenever I went to Trinidad. You will truly be missed by so many people… Love you, Buddy. ~ Barb
