From Blake Eberhard: A few more thoughts about Jerry. I had been in Wind Machine for five years, from 1985 to 1990, and during that time I did no freelance work or pop music gigs whatsoever. Upon leaving Wind Machine, I contacted the Moment’s Notice office to inquire about auditioning for their gigs. I quickly secured employment and began my journey with Jerry and Moment’s Notice. My first gig was in the fall of 1989 at the ribbon cutting for the new Denver Chamber of Commerce building, alongside Don Newby. That day would start my 35+ year friendship with Newby! I worked pretty much exclusively with Moment’s Notice for the next twelve years as a sideman and bandleader.

Working for Jerry was very educational, as I learned hundreds of songs and gained a ton of experience in the wedding/corporate band realm. I became an expert about loading-in to all the wedding and event venues in Colorado. I forged relationships with Denver’s caterers, photographers, Rabbis, wedding planners and venue staffs. I also established relationships with countless singers and musicians, as well as learning to be a bandleader. The years I led bands for Jerry was the period in my career where I worked harder than at any other time. Being a leader for Jerry had it’s ups and downs, and I spent a lot of time with him in business meetings during that era which spanned many years.

Overall, he and I always got along very well. Even after I decided to stop being a bandleader for him, he still hired me as a sideman for gigs as often as I wanted to do them. I had a positive, friendly relationship with Jerry and Becky, and anytime I would run into them they were always very cordial and complimentary toward me. Through Jerry and Moment’s Notice I earned, and learned, and made many lifelong friends. Thanks JB.

Michael Weaver wrote: This is a brilliant, wonderful, and incredibly thoughtful and articulate remembrance of what Jerry meant for so many of us. Thank you so much for sharing!

Also, Jerry, you were absolutely one of the most amazing musicians I ever met in my tenure at MNE. I think you were one of the kindest, thoughtful, and most professional people I have ever met in the music business
