Music Notes|

COMBO does a lot for ALL musicians — whether you’re a paid member or not! However, we are NOT a booking agency, talent buyer, manager or a publisher (as some people think)! We help ALL musicians with the “business” of music, like how to copyright your songs, how to get your royalties, how to get a gig, and more. We put on 7 programs a year (via Zoom so no excuse not to attend), 4 “schmoozers” or mixers, and we take August off to tend to the kids and “Back to School” needs! All of these activities are FREE! We are run by volunteers — no one gets paid — so have patience with us as we really do try to do our best to help YOU out.

Carla Jordan’s response: Volunteer, and non-profit organizations are often the most difficult to manage. First, no one is paid. It’s all “free” time from faithful volunteers who also have a life to live, yet a passion for their cause. Knowing first hand, the bulk of the work often falls on a few people who refuse to let it fail so they scramble and juggle all the moving parts. Bless you Barb for the huge commitment you have taken on and the herding of volunteers to keep it running. Your work does not go unrecognized, and is greatly appreciated.

[If there is ANYONE who would know how much work is involved in running an active not-for-profit organization, it would be Carla. She was the owner of Ziggie’s, a prominent blues club in Denver, and was instrumental (pardon the pun) in forming the Mile High Blues Society. Thanks for all YOU do for the music community as well, Carla!]

Connie Morris: What a great program to help musicians learn to get themselves and their music promoted keep up the good work. [Thank you, Connie!]

Laurie Dameron: COMBO is awesome! I’ve learned some very valuable and practical business practices from the webinars! And they put out a super informative newsletter every week! [Thank you so much, Laurie!]

Rachel Alena: You guys are awesome, Barb! [Rachel was one of our speakers. Her program was on vocals and how to get a job doing voice-overs!]
