Bonus! Bret will tell us about that Pop-up Show photo! Our February meeting will be held on Monday, the 23rd at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Our guest speaker will be local musician Bret Dallas, who makes extra money busking on the streets of Denver. One day he went out to his backyard storage shed to find that it had been broken into and all of his music gear, plus many other items, had been stolen. Of course the insurance company refused to pay up. And the Lakewood Police said, “We’re sorry but ‘Good luck’, fellow.”

So Bret took matters into his own hands and got most of his stuff back except the treasured photos and a few other mementos of his life. Tune in to hear how he did it, the go-round he went with the insurance company (y’all need to hear this!), and the work he did to find his stuff.

Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom: Our guest speak will be Nick Sullivan who was a studio owner at The Keep for 11 years, started a publishing company, Consonance Publishing, that has had quite a few sync licensing agreements, An artist, a producer/engineer who worked with Los Lobos, as well a Colorado native from Steamboat Springs. He will speak about our current situation that our community faces with their music as well as how to be more engaged with what it takes to have some success in today’s market place. This meeting will be moderated by Clark Hagan, COMBO’s sound engineer board member.

Monday, April 20th, at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom: Rob Mullins. Colorado original, Grammy-nominated pianist/composer (mainly Jazz, but can do any genre) actively performing at sold-out gigs under just his name, and very active in publishing/music education. He just surpassed a million streams, and something we thought was particularly cool is that more NEW listeners are downloading his older album, Soundscape, than they did back when it was a chart topper a couple of decades ago (he has 43 albums).
