Bad Bunny Told To ‘Stay In Your Country’ If You Aren’t Patriotic By Former NFL Player Eric Dickerson By Kandiss Edwards, Black Enterprise | Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson made a bold pronouncement to the 2026 Super Bowl headliner, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.
In an interview with TMZ, Dickerson plainly expressed how he felt about Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance. The former Los Angeles Ram criticized Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny over his stance on America’s current political climate. Dickerson believes that if Ocasio is not enthusiastically patriotic, he should not headline an American sporting event with over 100 million viewers.
“I’m from the U.S. I love my country. And if you don’t like the United States, just get your ass out of here and don’t come over here.” Dickerson said to TMZ, “If Bad Bunny said something about the U.S., don’t come here and perform. You know, don’t come here. Stay in your country.”
As Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, Bad Bunny is a member of this country. When reminded of that, Dickerson doubled down on his stance. He continued to make a distinction between U.S. territories and mainland states. To Dickerson, the distinction matters regardless of citizenship.

Jennifer Lopez Wades in on Bad Bunny Amid Super Bowl Backlash
By Chiara Fiorillo, The Daily Express
Jennifer Lopez has showered Bad Bunny with praise and expressed confusion over the backlash surrounding his Super Bowl performance announcement.
The Puerto Rican music sensation was revealed as the Halftime Show headliner for the upcoming Super Bowl in February, declaring his intention to dedicate this major milestone to “my people, my culture, and our history.” The 31-year-old artist, who recently wrapped up a groundbreaking Puerto Rico residency that attracted over half a million attendees, has emerged as one of the globe’s most-streamed performers.
Bad Bunny had previously joined the Super Bowl stage in 2020 as a special guest alongside Lopez, Shakira, and J Balvin. But while many are excited, Donald Trump hit out at the decision to have Bad Bunny play the halftime show.
Following his announcement as the 2026 headliner, the artist has faced pushback from MAGA figures and football enthusiasts who have voiced objections to his selection and his use of Spanish in his music. However, he has refused to let the detractors dampen his spirits – and during his hosting duties for Saturday Night Live’s season opener on October 3, he directly addressed those who have voiced their dissatisfaction.

Trump Ally Slams Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show
By Daniel Matthews, The Daily Mail
Slide show: House speaker Mike Johnson has joined the chorus of criticism after Bad Bunny was chosen to perform the Super Bowl halftime show.
The Puerto Rican artist was recently announced as the act for next year’s end-of-season finale – despite backlash from Donald Trump and some of his supporters, one of whom argued Bad Bunny ‘seems to hate America.’ Trump called the decision ‘crazy’ and ‘absolutely ridiculous.’
Bad Bunny – who was born Benito Antonio Martinez – previously cited ICE agents as a reason he did not include any mainland US dates for his upcoming tour. And, on Tuesday, the speaker of the House of Representatives said the Puerto Rican was a ‘terrible’ choice. Bad Bunny is among the most streamed artists on Spotify but Johnson said he would rather 82-year-old country singer Lee Greenwood had been selected.
‘I didn’t even know who Bad Bunny was. But it sounds like a terrible decision in my view from what I’m hearing,’ he told Migrant Insider. ‘It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience and there are so many eyes on the Super Bowl – a lot of young, impressionable children. And, in my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or Role Models doing that. Not somebody like this.’ . . .
