Join us for 2 events celebrating Denver Arts Week and the citywide Night at the Museums! The first concert will be held this coming Saturday, November 4th , from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Freyer-Newman Center in the Denver Botanic Gardens, 10th and York Street in Denver. There is a parking structure available for across-the-street parking. The ticketed concert will be held in the Sturm Family Auditorium (registration required). We will premiere Shades of Colorado, a new string quartet by 2022 Land Line Land Line Artist-in-Residence, composer Jessi Harvey.
Jessi Harvey, Montana born composer, and the Playground Ensemble String Quartet join together to perform Harvey’s “Shades of Colorado,” a 7-movement work based in research on Colorado’s past, present, and future natural world; taking inspiration from the Colorado state butterfly, the Colorado Hairstreak, the Rocky Mountain Locust, Colorado River, and many other iconic Colorado natural features. Harvey was a Denver Botanic Gardens Land Line artist-in-residence in 2022.
Advance registration is required for the 4:00 p.m. concert – $12 for Gardens Members and $15 for Non-Members; $5 for students.
Afterward, we will explore and reimagine Harvey’s Stages of Water in an ambient atrium experience, while Conrad leads an interactive, drop-in workshop answering the question – what does it sound like?
5:00 to 10:00 p.m. – FREE Event & Music in the Freyer-Newman Center Atrium.
