COMBO – The Colorado Music Business Organization

Music-Related Business|

Photo: Bluegrass Tree | Jack Hadley: A few days ago, I read the news that the Bluegrass in Arvada was closing at the end of this month. The Bluegrass was a great hang. The staff was cool, and they always had live music. I played at the Bluegrass (both locations, after Bluegrass Candelas opened) for years.

I started playing there after my friend, Tony Rosario, asked me to stop by and play a few tunes. The club liked what they heard, and asked me to get on board. That was it. During COVID, the Bluegrass was one of the few places that kept live music going outside.

I will always remember the day I showed up for a gig, and Josh Schwartz gave me a huge poster that his father had given him. He was passing it on to me because he thought I should have it. It’s called “Highlights of the Jazz Story in USA”. An illustration of a tree of Jazz and Blues history, with photos of many of the founding fathers of the music.

I met so many friends and fans at the Bluegrass. I’ll miss this place. I have a few more shows at the Bluegrass before the end: Fri., Oct. 9th & Fri., Oct. 16th, 6-10 pm Bluegrass Olde Town, and Oct. 29th, 6-9 pm at the Bluegrass Candelas. Stop by.
