Music is a big part of Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) and we are seeking a variety of performers. The dates for our 2021 Festival are June 24-27. With Covid-19 of course remaining an issue, the final festival plans are still in the works and subject to change more than usual, but we are looking at a number of outdoor venues where music can be performed safely, and our attendees can enjoy this important part of the festival. Use of any inside venues is still to be determined, but we will be hosting festival events at a variety of out door facilities.
We’re seeking musicians from 1-5 pieces for a variety of different stages: Our Singer/Songwriter Showcase features original music solo or duo acts performing for filmgoers, guests, filmmakers, staff and the public. The stage for the performances will likely be outdoors, location TBD. Each act will be asked to perform a single set of 25 minutes. Acts may also have the opportunity to perform before certain marquee screenings. We’ll have a few full band slots for various events and stages as well throughout the Festival. All genres will be considered, but all music and lyrics must be an appropriate fit for an all-ages audience. Original music is preferred here as well, but we also have a need for instrumental bands such as jazz and R&B.
Selected artists for BIFF 2021 will be featured in the 80,000 copies of our official printed program (distributed all over Boulder County, Denver and in the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper) and have an original (non-cover) song on the BIFF compilation music compilation that is distributed for free as a download card to all attending BIFF filmmakers, producers, directors and passholders. Deadline for music submissions for all of BIFF 2021 is midnight, Friday, April 2. Please submit your best online music link to lisa@biff1.com. The BIFF Music Selection Committee will review each entry and make all final decisions. All applicants will be notified of acceptance by April 30.
