The Colorado Springs NSAI is now merging with the Front Range Songwriters group. The Front Range group has been meeting since the mid-1980’s and has many folks also in the NSAI group. John Nelson has headed up the FRSW and is taking the lead for the NSAI chapter now as well. Please feel welcome to join in the new mix! Below is the notice for the upcoming meeting in November.
Time for our Novembrrr gathering – Wednesday, November 6, 7:00 at John Nelson’s place.*
John Nelson has 3 things for you to consider in relation to the meeting:
1. Those of you who are NSAI members, know that there are only a few days left to enter NSAI’s 20th Annual Song Contest!
(http://www.cmt.com/nsai/2019). But – we just realized, yesterday, that Colorado is one of the states excluded from participation. We still don’t understand, but will be looking into it.
2. John would like the workshop members to bring in at least a verse or chorus based on the song title, “Crazy From The Heat.” If someone is inspired to do more, that’d be great.
3. The discussion topic for the November workshop will be “A Genuine Idea.” This is the first of five key songwriting points from “Successful Lyric Writing” by Sheila Davis. Looking forward to some fun results.
Front Range Songwriter’s Workshop is a monthly get-together (typically the 1st Wednesday of the month) of lyricists and songwriters with the mission of improving their craft. Meetings typically include a discussion of music industry trends followed by presentation of works in progress. Presenters should bring ten copies of lyrics and/or music for review while presenting their work. This is a diverse and highly supportive group welcoming all styles and levels of craft.
