Photo: Miss Congeniality cover | By Gabriela Arevalo, Parade | Sanda Bullock is asking her fans to be on alert for impostors, issuing a warning that there may be some bad actors pretending to be her.
The Miss Congeniality star went further, expressing “deep concern” both for the safety of her family and for “the innocent people being taken advantage of.”
In a Feb. 3 statement to People, Bullock said that she was “helping law enforcement handle this matter,” before explaining that she does “not participate in any form of social media.”
The actress continued, explaining that “any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me.”
Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, shared a similar statement on Instagram on Feb. 2, writing “I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes, dealing with weird & scary emails to my BUSINESS and HOME from men who believe that, through one of these many fake ‘me’s, they have a relationship with my sister,” next to a screenshot of the fake accounts.

This follows a slew of similar warnings issued by other celebrities, including country star Reba McEntire.

Last month, Brad Pitt issued a similar message after a woman was scammed out of $850,000 by someone who was posing as the actor. . . . this is an important reminder to not respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have no social media presence.”

Wow! Here’s Another Couple of Scams for You to Watch Out For
The scammers are coming out of the walls!!! I got an e-mail from Paypal saying I needed to send them my electronic signature so they could pay someone for a purchase I had made for over $400. Of course I immediately tried to remember what I had bought that would have cost that amount of money. And THEN I thought: Oh, WAIT! I don’t even have a Paypal account! But I wonder how many people have been caught in that one.
