Newly-renovated Budweiser Events Center Awaits Return of Fans
By Alexander Kirk, 9News | The Budweiser Events Center at The Ranch will have some new features when it reopens to the public this year.
The upgrades to the Loveland arena will include a new state-of-the-art sound system, NHL-quality acrylic hockey glass and a new hockey sideboard system that aims to reduce injuries to players.
“We recognized an opportunity to revitalize the fan experience and made a decision to use the time we had to improve,” said Keller Taylor, District General Manager for Spectra Venue Management. “Optimizing safety and event quality will be our top priorities upon re-open.”
Although the date to reopen to fans is unclear, events are returning to Budweiser Events Center. The Colorado Eagles host their first home game without fans on Wednesday, Feb. 24 against the Tucson Roadrunners.
Larimer County has approved the following renovations which will cost roughly $420,000:
● L-Acoustics A10 Series Loudspeaker – $300,000
● Athletica Sports Systems Acrylic Glass – $100,000
● Crystaplex SoftCap® rail system – $20,000
“2020 wasn’t what any of us were anticipating, but by remaining productive, we’re ecstatic we’ll be able to re-open to our community with a higher caliber venue,” said Chris Ashby, The Ranch Campus Director.

Spotify to Launch in 85 New Markets, Reach More Than a Billion Listeners
By Supantha Mukherjee, Kenneth Li, Reuters | Spotify said on Monday it would nearly double its market presence by launching in 85 new markets in the next few days, making the music streaming service available to more than a billion people around the world.
The company’s shares, which were down in early trading, reversed course to rise as much as 6% to a record high.
The Swedish company, which started its service more than a decade ago, is currently available in 93 countries and has 345 million monthly active users.
While Spotify is the leader in music streaming, entry in new countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America would significantly increase the gap with its rivals, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
“Together these markets represent more than a billion people, with nearly half of them already using the internet,” said Chief Premium Business Officer Alex Norstrom. “Some of the places we’re going like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nigeria have the fastest growing internet populations in the world.”
An earlier expansion drive in India, Russia and the Middle East has already brought in millions of subscribers.

Grimes Received a 90k Government Grant Despite Dating the Richest Person in the World
Pop Singer Grimes has taken the phrase ‘independent woman’ to a whole new level after it was reported she received a $90,000 grant from the Canadian government, despite the fact that her baby daddy, Elon Musk, is the richest person in the world.
The grant that Grimes received was awarded from Factor, a Canadian arts subsidy program that’s partially funded by the federal government and given for an album of hers. Though the grant was given in November 2020, it’s recently come to light after Twitter users have been tweeting their distaste on the matter.
Some have been questioning the validity of why Grimes received a grant, after all she’s reportably worth over three million dollars, is dating Elon Musk, who’s estimated worth is $199.9 billion and, of course, has had an extremely successful musical career.
To date Grimes had a number one on a Billboard chart, has a single on the box office film, Suicide Squad and has toured with Lana Del Rey.
However, it should be noted that it wasn’t actually Grimes herself who applied for the grant in question, it was her label Crystal Math Music Inc. and the grant application did meet all of the criteria.

‘Kimye’ is No More: Kardashian Files to Divorce West
By Andrew Dalton, AP News | “Kimye” is kaput. Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce from Kanye West Friday after 6 1/2 years of marriage, court records show. The move brings an impending end to one of the most followed celebrity unions of the 21st century — the marriage of a reality TV superstar and a hip-hop and fashion phenomenon with four kids, a vast fortune to split and even more fame.
Kardashian is seeking joint custody of the children and her filing states the couple have a prenuptial agreement that will determine how their assets will be divided. It cites irreconcilable differences for their breakup and does not list a separation date.
The couple began dating in 2012 and had their first child in 2013. West proposed later that year using the giant screen at the empty waterfront ballpark of the San Francisco Giants, and the two married May 24, 2014, in a ceremony at a Renaissance fortress in Florence, Italy.
