Reports|

I had a whole plane ride to Dublin to soak in the last five weeks. A massive CD release and 30-some US shows later, all I can settle on is the massive amount of gratitude I have for my band, and the many, many people/friends/loved ones new and old that we’ve collided with since the first tour date in Steamboat (after that epic Denver release show I’m still buzzing about).

Since then we’ve been from Portland to Boston. The band and I have been shown an absolutely inspiring amount of kindness in every form every single day. So thank you many sweet souls for the foot-tapping, booty-shaking, cd-buying, T-shirt-wearing, soft bed offering, breakfast-making, show-supporting love that has gone on. You make this job and dream a reality and I don’t know where I’d be without you. You make a HUGE difference in the lives of others, especially mine.

I’m adding some fun picture memories of our travels to this post. Never had so much fun on the road before, and missing my guys like mad. Hated leaving them in NY yesterday, BUT so psyched to be doing the EU portion of the tour with my bestie. Couldn’t be more excited. 30 EU tour dates. Then climbing Kilimanjaro. Then some volunteer work at Project Mercy in Ethiopia.

Then back with the boys for the Prison tour in December. Then sleep. Stay in touch! You know I will!

Weee, ain’t life grand? xo, Megan

IS MUSIC PROMOTER SFX LOOKING TO UNLOAD DENVER’S BEATPORT?

SFX Entertainment, a promoter focusing on electronic dance music, is exploring a fire sale of its assets, sources tell the New York Business Journal.

Among the assets it bought over the years that may be up for grabs include Beatport, a Denver-based dance-music download website.

New York-based SFX, known for producing live events and festivals, overpaid for a number of properties it acquired over the years and “now the value has bottomed out,” one source noted.

Between the inflated price tags of its M&A deals and a sliding stock price, the assets of SFX (Nasdaq: SFXE) could be made available at a huge discount.

CEO and founder Robert Sillerman, who founded the company in 2011, went on a two-year shopping spree, inking deals as a way of solidifying his position in the EDM space. In all, he’s estimated to have spent more than $1 billion on acquisitions.

Beatport was founded in Denver in 2004 by DJs Eloy Lopez and Jonas Tempel along with promoter Brad Roulier as a way to distribute electronic dance music to DJs and others via download. Former Denver Broncos player Trevor Pryce was an early investor.

After SFX bought Beatport in 2013 for a reported $50 million, it moved many of its jobs out of Denver.

NORTHERN COLORADO BAND TO WATCH: LITTLE BLACK BOTTLES

The Little Black Bottles are a ukulele folk rock band. With a robotic drummer on hand, this husband and wife duo is a quintessential DIY band. The Little Black Bottles write, arrange, record, distribute, book and promote their own music, design their own artwork (with occasional help from amazing artists whom they compensate), and create their own merchandise. Their journey includes overcoming a distribution deal gone sour (battle of distribution rights) with a shady management company, and the re-release of their first two albums as Red Velvet Werewolf.

The Little Black Bottles recently released two singles with an ‘80s fantasy movie soundtrack in mind. A departure from their normal rock/folk/horror fare, Brains are Electric and Another Dimension fit more in the category of dreamy, electro-pop. Listen here:
