This week we feature three of our newest members to join COMBO! Read more about them below and be sure to check out their websites. We want to thank them for supporting COMBO and send a reminder to be sure to let us know about any upcoming shows you may have!

Brian Eloe and A Trouble Bound Band: Beside Brian, members are Joel Mauney and C.N. Hawes. Hailing from Denver Colorado, Trouble Bound classifies its music as “Americana-infused rock.” With diverse influences, they mix elements of rock, country, folk, blues, and singer-songwriter musical styles to create a hybrid roots-rock sound all their own.

Tinged with reverence to the forefathers of outlaw country and also romanticized in stories of the wild west, their music is a slice of Colorado perspective that adopts more of a “live and let live” life philosophy.

The band name itself “trouble bound,” is more of a mindset, if you will, that comes from a moment whereby, circumstance or choice, someone ends up on the wrong path and bound for trouble. Thematically, the songs examine the overindulgences of liquor, love, and occasional lawlessness- although generally more of the mischievous variety than anything that might truly hurt someone…

The result is catchy songs with lyrical themes driven loosely by personal and observed experiences of others.

The mission is simple, be authentic and entertaining in the process

Joaquina Lluma, Bassist, Performing as Roqui Lluma

Joaquina says: I’m mainly a bass player, and love Fusion. I’ve been playing for almost 30 years. As a performer, I work (and have worked) with a plethora of people in Denver. I have a 6-song EP and a single out, besides recordings with other bands. Right now, I’m diving into the licensing aspect of the industry. On the side, I teach music to kids and kids at heart. I earned my B.M. in American improvised music on bass at Metro State under the guidance of Ron Miles, Ron Bland, and Don Byron. My resolution for 2024 is to sharpen up my solo looping act and performing it on different settings and text out the waters, practicing my writing and improvisation while at it.
