Chris K., 12/20/24 on Fb: UGH … one of my main clients – Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids and Solids has decided to suspend live music until Memorial weekend, beginning Jan 1.
Brad Raley: At all their locations? Any idea why?
Chris K: I don’t know about the other locations .. just HMLS in Longmont … but I’d guess it has to do with cutting back on finances during the winter.
Teri Senior: I’m not surprised. Alot of venues are cutting back for winter and start live music in April and May go thru until Nov.
Doug Murphy: Maybe they are tired of bands not having a following and clearing the room of their regulars.
Chris K: 90% of bands draw 30. . . or fewer | DM: but they still want to get paid
Adam Perry: Wow, we’ve had some big shows there in the winter months
Chris K: Yeah…. management made a decision last year to put acoustic acts downstairs during the winter… one night a week.
Jason Basner: Having done sound there a few times, people don’t really make their way to that upstairs room.
I also personally think they did not do the best job of advertising that they are a music venue. I was sitting at the bar and googled “live music near me” and the brewery did not show up. No real signs or anything saying “live music upstairs” or anything like that. seemed more like an afterthought, which is unfortunate because it’s a cozy room. Hopefully they continue with their outdoor schedule over the summer.
Chris K to JB: A couple of points .. we haven’t used the loft in some time … and it’s not a music venue per se …
Cody James Bennett: Oskar Blues Grill & Brew Lyons is still having music every Friday and Saturday. They’re also doing an open mic every Monday and poker night every Thursday.
Chris K to JB: Memorial Weekend – mid OCT we do music on the outdoor stage on FRI and SAT evenings. We stopped using the loft two years ago, and only booked bluegrass and folk styles one night a week downstairs … I’ve worked there since 2009 (more or less) … the loft never worked for music and we’re finding it’s not really working well downstairs either for the most part. I don’t know how Google finds shit.
JB: I definitely did a show in that loft this year with Tyler.
For the Google listing, that would be whoever is in charge of the Google business profile to add that meta data/keyword so that when Google crawls the page they see that info and include it in search results for that keyword. Basic SEO that’s easy for every business to work on
