Rocky Mountain Guitar Stars Concert will flood the Rialto Theatre stage in Loveland, CO with six internationally known recording artists in an evening of stunning guitar virtuosity. John Knowles CGP, Pat Bergeson, Brooks Robertson, Jim Nichols, Muriel Anderson, and Richard Smith Will perform in concert August 12, 8:00 pm at the Rialto. Presented by Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp, Henriksen Amplifiers and Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor, concert proceeds will support the RMGC Scholarship Fund for young guitarists.

John Knowles, CGP, a member of the Thumbpickers Hall of Fame, has worked with renowned fingerstyle and classical guitarists including Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Lenny Breau and Tommy Emmanuel. Knowles has won many awards including a Grammy and 2 Emmy nominations as well a being named first Honorary Certified Guitar Player (CGP) degree.

Richard Smith: Fellow musicians and music lovers alike sing praise this world-renowned fingerstyle guitarist. Richard’s ever growing repertoire comprises a wide variety of music from classical Bach to Beatles pop to Scott Joplin Rags, Sousa marches, Chopin, Mozart and fiddle tunes. His arrangement of The Entertainer“ has over 12 million views on YouTube.

Muriel Anderson, a guitarist, harp guitarist, and composer embraces music from all over the world. Her playing reflects a sense of grace and joy, infused with humor. Muriel is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her CD, Nightlight Daylight, was chosen as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine, and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle Discovery.

Jim Nichols credentials include appearances on TV, radio, concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Tonight Show. He has played or recorded with Joe Pass, Kenny Rankin, Buddy Montgomery, Art Pepper, Van Morrison, Chet Atkins, Mark Murphy and Hubert Laws. Jim recorded a CD “Chet Lag” with Tommy Emmanuel.

Pat Bergeson earned a Jazz Studies degree at William Paterson University. After playing in New York for 10 years, he moved to Nashville upon the request of Chet Atkins who heard Pat on a demo tape. Chet invited him to play on his album “Sneakin’ Around” with Jerry Reed, and later featured Pat’s guitar and compositions on his 1994 releases “Read My Licks” and “Simpatico” with Chet Atkins and Suzy Bogguss.

Brooks Robertson: Buster B Jones took him under his wing when he was 11. Brooks began playing high-profile gigs such as the Nokie Edwards Festival, the NAMM Show, the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS. Brooks first place in a talent competition for 12 to 20 year old participants on the Prairie Home Companion radio show. Brooks is a recent graduate of The Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp is a 501c3 nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the promoting fingerstyle guitar though networking and education. Based in Northern Colorado, the organization holds an annual “Camp” at the YMCA of the Rockies where aspiring musicians receive instruction and the opportunity for intimate interaction with internationally known recording artists. Thanks to generous donations from the Northern Colorado community and beyond, Camp scholarships have enabled young musicians to further their craft and develop lasting relationships with mentors and camp participants.
