The judges have finished their work! After the scores were totalled and averaged, these songs were chosen to be on the compilation CD to be given out at the Durango Songwriters Expo next week at the Omni Interlocken Hotel & Resort in Broomfield, Colorado. These are in no particular order but “I Lose My Breath” by Rod Tanaka and the late Johnny Brown received an almost perfect score from the judges (4.625 out of 5.0). They ALL LOVED it! The judges were given only numbers that were assigned to each song. No one knew who wrote the songs or who performed them. They were scored only on lyrics and melody (production, singers, instrumental work were not part of the scoring – except for the instrumental songs submitted).
So here they are:

Amanda Harras Wins Entry to Durango Songwriters Expo!
COMBO congratulated Songwriter Doug Moe for winning the drawing for a free entry into the Durango Songwriters Expo being held at the Omni Interlocken Resort & Hotel on September 29th & 30th and October 1st! Doug’s name was drawn from all the entrants into COMBO’s 4th Annual Songwriting Contest. However, Doug was unable to take advantage of the entry and asked that we pass it on. So another name was drawn and Songwriter Amanda Harras won! She will be able to attend and is really looking forward to the DSE as she feels she is a serious song writer and really wants to learn more about the business of songwriting.
We’ll also be holding a special Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 29th at the Walnut Room, 3131 Walnut Street, to honor the winners of the Songwriting Contest. More details to be announced soon but put the date on your calendar!
