A BIG Thank You to Our Guest International Musicians/Speakers at the April Meeting
Firstly, a big Thank You goes out to COMBO Board Member Annette Cannon for putting together and hosting this program. Very well done, Annette!
The speakers including Alejandro Parra (Venezuela); Navarat Varin (Thailand); Merete Solvedt (Norway); Ricardo Vallejos (Chile/Dubai); Ashesh Dangol (Nepal); Nate Hamon (Australia); and Kareem Husem (Egypt).
Videos of each of their talks will be posted on the COMBO website soon. Up right now is the video of Nate Hamon from Austalia. Nate put a very humorous spin on his musical activities and you will really enjoy watching and hearing what he has to say! And, for the next several weeks, we will post short bios of each of the speakers for your reference. It was so great to be able to meet like-minded people and wonderful musicians – a language that ALL people speak.
Merethe Solvedt is a singer songwriter from the South-West Coast of Norway. Askøy, Bergen. This creature has been singing since before she could talk, made up songs in English before she knew the language, sang along to Elvis-records, wrote her first song in English at the age of 10, and performed it in front of the whole school district accompanied by eight back-up singers and a piano. She recently attained her Artist Visa in the United States. Since 2005 to this day she does vocals for TV2, the biggest commercial TV Station in Norway. Bumber music, jingles, program-promo etc. She is also featured on over a dozen albums released by Two Steps From Hell and Thomas Bergersen. She is featured on 7 tracks on their new release Battlecry April 28. She is just about ready to hit the live scene in Los Angeles. Merethe says, “This journey never gets dull, that´s for sure! I am grateful for every twist and turn!”

A BIG Thank You to Wat Buddhawararam for Donation of Sundries
A bunch of soaps, shampoos, razors, and other sundries were donated at the April COMBO Meeting by Wat Buddhawararam of the Thai Temple here in Denver. Thank you very much to Mr. Buddhawararam and the Thai Temple for their VERY generous donation to help out.
We Wanted to Know More About the Thailanese Instruments…
Eddy Panklang writes that the instruments that he and Navarat Varin were playing that night included Saw Duang, Pin Pia, Khlui, and Seung. Mae Ping and Kang-Klao Kin Kluay were the names of the two songs they played to the delight of the crowd!
Soaps, Shampoos, etc., Needed for Homeless
Got a bunch of those little bottle of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or little soaps laying around that you brought home from your stays in hotels and motels? Annette Cannon reminded us that she really could use those to help stuff care bags for the homeless.
Please bring them to the next COMBO meetings. We’ll be glad to “recycle” them for you. And if you don’t have any now, how ‘bout picking them up the next time you go out of town and bring them back with you. Betcha you never thought of giving them to help out less fortunate people.
