Erik Boa: I post the following with a heavy heart. What follows is a combination of sadness and gratitude. I was notified yesterday that starting January 1, 2020, Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids in Longmont CO will no longer have live entertainment. That means that my Monday blues jam that I have hosted for nearly 10 YEARS is ending!
I am SO grateful for the opportunity that was given me some 10 years ago to host a jam here and even more grateful for the people I have met, most of whom have become family! All of the managers I worked with, all of the bartenders that became friends, all of the sound techs, all of the Constrictors that have made the journey as the host band with me, and especially YOU ALL, the players and supporters! So many amazing memories will live with me and that is a blessing!
The sad part is that it’s over. Yes, I am aware that all things, good and bad, come to an end. But this was not just a jam, it was a labor of love, a Monday tradition of gathering with friends and players young and old, beginners and pros. A place to learn, grow, and share our love of playing the blues! For me, it’s like losing a friend, a family member. I will end by saying THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart!
P.S. I will be looking to begin a new Monday blues jam at a new location. I will be reaching out to you all for suggestions in the very near future. The loss of income for me is devastating but I will land on my feet. Love you all!
