Yahoo | The band announced the fundraising drive in April, and made the first contribution of $500,000. The band’s fans helped to raise the rest.

Metallica announced it was closing a charity fundraising called “Month of Giving.” It actually lasted two months and managed to raise $1 million over the period. All of the funds raised will go to the World Central Kitchen Charitable Foundation and its #ChefsForUkraine initiative, which provides food for Ukrainian refugees.

“It’s been just over three months since World Central Kitchen first started supporting people displaced inside and outside Ukraine, serving nourishing meals and food kits to families throughout the region,” the band wrote on Facebook.

World Central Kitchen CEO Nate Mook thanked Metallica’s fans for their support.
