This week’s Featured Lyrics are to Jonathan Wolff’s “Theme Song for Seinfeld”, an instrumental song! Although we usually post lyrics of hit songs so that our songwriters can study them to see how winning songs are constructed, we thought this was a really interesting story. Of course a lot depends on the melody, the rhythm and the artist as to whether or not the song will sell… and whether or not it is in the right place at the right time!

Whether you’re a “Seinfeld” devotee or not, the iconic synth-bass sounds of the sitcom’s theme music are unmistakable. And the man behind the improvised riff is just as original. Meet composer Jonathan Wolff; he’s responsible for writing the theme songs to more than 44 television shows, including “Saved by the Bell: The College Years,” “Will & Grace,” and most famously, “Seinfeld.” Here’s how he created a theme song about nothing, that changed every show.

Jonathan Wolff (born October 23, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American composer.

Wolff is well known for creating the theme and music for the television series Seinfeld. Wolff was also the composer for about 80 other TV series, including The King of Queens, Will & Grace, Who’s The Boss?, Married… with Children, The Hughleys, and Reba.
