Thoughts and Prayers|

Photo: Lannie & hubby Dan | Lannie Garrett on Facebook: I tell him a zillion times a day, but over and above that, my husband deserves a HUGE public shout out for being such an incredible partner. His care, patience, love and understanding (ie: days of me, with no makeup, bad hair, sloppy clothes, crabby, and unable to do much for myself) have made this hip surgery experience bearable.

Here I am at week four… slowly, one day at a time… (I can’t wait to be able to sleep on my side, get in and out of the bathtub… but, mostly, I can’t wait to put on my own pants, shoes and socks!)

I also really want to thank all of you who stepped up with meal delivery, books, magazines, flowers, care packages, get well cards, phone pep talks and numerous “how ya doin’, need anything?” check-ins these past few weeks… your thoughtfulness meant the world to me and really buoyed up my spirits through this, well, let’s say, “adventure.”

THANK YOU: Connie Robertson, Paula Jayne Friedland, Janine Gastineau, Karen Roehl, Phil and Zoe Schneider Caplan, Dennis and Ann Appel, Pam Clifton, Dan Dobbins, Hazel Stevens Price, Doug Price, Molly Secours, Laura Fincken, Steve and Linda Volkman Schmidt, Marty Murphy Lassen, Katy Tartakoff, Robyn Gisbert, Michael Ray, Pam Bennison, Annie Brenman-West, Jeff and Terri Jo Jenkins, Bobby Bennett, Shelly Volkman, Mark Madigan, Jinx Jones, Dean Prina.

And all those sweet random “thinking of you” texts : Sheryl Renee, Todd Wheeler, Laura Sheaks Abbott. Casey Donnell Dubois, Tracy Walters, LA VanDerwert, Joanne Katz, Mercedes VonNorman, Patrick Cullie, Chuck Lettes, Tina Phillips, Peggy Tulane…

Damn: …THANKS GUYS…!!! a whole lotta, really big: THANK YOUS!

Back Story:
Here’s the deal. I wasn’t going to say anything about this on Facebook but, after seeing posts of all my musician and singer friends stepping up to perform fundraisers for the Marshall fire victims, I had to explain why I have been conspicuously absent in volunteering.

Last March, I started limping from a pain in my left groin. My chiropractor said it was a psoas muscle sprain and it would heal in time. A few weeks later, it totally gave out on me in Cherry Creek Mall and I had to be escorted out in a wheelchair. Months of chiropractors, acupuncture, massage and $$$. I kept waiting for it to heal. It just got worse.

Most recently, I was at Dazzle when my leg completely gave out again. I literally had to be carried out to the car in the arms of the very cute & buff waiter, Nick (only including this experience as some of the patrons merely thought I was drunk!)

Finally, fed up, I went to an orthopedic doc. The MRI told us that I had a large labral tear in my left hip. Over 40 years of dancing in high heels every weekend might exacerbate this issue (or so I’ve been told.)

Sooooo, I can’t take it anymore. Almost a year of not being able to go for walks, dance, exercise… I’m turning into a big gooshy tub of goo. Only answer: Surgery…this month.

Please…PLEASE! I didn’t write this to get sympathy. I just wanted my fans and friends to know why I wasn’t joining them for this very worthy cause [Benefit for the Marshal Fire Victims]. Thanks so much to Hazel Miller for using her high profile and talent to organize the fundraisers!! Please know, I’ll be there in spirit.
