Colorado country singers Brad Richmond won the Raton Country Showdown contest, and Kristi Hoopes (a COMBO member!) won the Trinidad show. Both will compete at Copper Mountain on September 4th. Runner up in the Raton show was Jen Smestad, Miss Arizona 2013. The scores were very close. Hard call for the judges.
Here are a couple of links to Jen Smestad’s videos from her competition in Miss America. One of the categories for judging in the Country Showdown includes extra points for performing your own original songs – which both Brad and Kristi did. Those extra points can really make a difference in who wins the contest.
