Q: Apostle James Brad Miller: Jason what do you think about if the person writes all the lyrics and uses Ai for the music. Are you for or against that? I have had songs a long time because I don’t play an instrument. I couldn’t find co writers. I put my lyrics in Ai it gives me it’s interpretation of my lyrics and gives me something to show my lyrics to artists. The artist can record from that point. How do you feel about Ai and how do you see it in the music business?
P.S. I wrote all the lyrics and Ai added no new lyrics to any of my lyrics
A: James Blume: According to the U.S. Copyright office, ASCAP, and BMI, you have NOT written the song–only the lyrics. Only the lyrics can be copyrighted. Most publishers and licensing agencies will not touch these kinds of songs. So it’s fine if you are doing it ONLY for your own enjoyment.
R: AJBM: All you have to do is re record it with a real musicians and a studio and they won’t know the difference. I believe that is going to change. However it proves one thing song after generated song the lyric is king. My lyrics work.
R: JB: Personally, I believe lyrics are important–but melody RULES!

Paul McCartney Joins Music Industry Protest Against AI With Silent Track
By Robert Booth, The Guardian
At two minutes 45 seconds it’s about the same length as With a Little Help From My Friends. But Paul McCartney’s first new recording in five years lacks the sing-along tune and jaunty guitar chops because there’s barely anything there.
The former Beatle, arguably Britain’s greatest living songwriter, is releasing a track of an almost completely silent recording studio as part of a music industry protest against copyright theft by artificial intelligence companies.
In place of catchy melodies and evocative lyrics there is only quiet hiss and the odd clatter. It suggests that if AI companies unfairly exploit musicians’ intellectual property to train their generative AI models, the creative ecosystem will be wrecked and original music silenced.
. . . . . . . . . .

COMBO’s Rob Roper Comments on AI
Since pop music– including country pop music– is all about cliches– both musically and lyrically, it should not be surprising that AI can easily generate these kind of songs. There’s no genuine human emotion there, it’s all formulaic. Just the sort of thing AI was invented for.
