Interesting Bits|

Discussion starter Edd Kray opined: God, I miss rock and roll. Today’s music sucks. Last night I watched a 1981 Journey concert and was reminded of how guitars were once used. Out front, on top, single lead notes, a Marshal stack, and the essence of the band. Turn it up to eleven! Neil Schon, I love you. Today the guitar is relegated to an acoustic strumming rhythm (Taylor Swift crap), chords — screw that shit. Please, somebody bring back real rock and roll. Steve Perry – now that’s a singer. Na na na nah nah.

Bill McClintock: How could you miss Rock and Roll? It’s still all available to you at least. LOL. I know what you mean though. Journey and others are always refreshing to hear. | What new music needs is a NEW Billboard chart “Hot 100 Rock and Roll” songs and radio stations to play NEW Rock and Roll that we would buy. Then maybe new acts would play old style Rock and Roll. Some of those songs would spill over to the existing Billboard Hot 100 too. Rock and Roll needs a viable outlet to showcase new R&R songs. Just a thought.

(Redacted) You need to listen to indie rock- there are a lot of amazing bands out there. You won’t find them on the [commercial] radio.

Sonny Wasinger: I have loved Neil Schon’s music ever since I first heard their early album “Next” (before Steve Perry joined the group) and after Steve Perry joined the group they really stepped it up and Schon’s songwriting and lead guitar got even better. I think he is a genius. | We still have guys like Butch Trucks’ son Derek and Warren Haynes and guys like that out there putting out some great guitar licks.

John Rassmussen: Check out Meytal Cohen’s live group. This drummer built her career online, she really is one of the best drummers I’ve ever come across, and she’s gathered some of the best players around. Travis Montgomery, her lead guitarist, does great old-school solos.

[The F1 – Movie has a great sound track – mostly ’80s metal tuns! Starts out with a Led Zep number! Turned the tv on this afternoon to see The Warning, an all female group, playing on the Kelly Clarkson Show! Serious rock ‘n roll vibes that would have made Vixen very proud! https://youtube.com/watch?v=Aqm2k55xo1E&si=3uFW3gjSuBm0V987]
