COMBO’s last two meetings have dealt with an overview of management and managers in the Colorado Music Scene. We want to thank our speakers Chuck Morris of AEG and the Department Head of the new CSU (Colorado State University) Music Business Department, and Dave Ratner, Esq. (of Creative Law Network), Nate Meese (the band Meese and 7s Management), Rachel Miller (7s Management), Tracey Chirhart (TAC Management), and Angela Whaley, manager of The Hollow.

On April 26th, COMBO’s president Barb Dye will present a workshop on the basics of band management – from accounting to touring, including basic copyright and trade name laws, booking, promotion, what makes a band “good”, and how to “manage” the band – when there are so many terrific, creative personalities involved.

Other topics to be covered will include:
1. Management: What is it?
2. Why do you need management?
3. When do you need management?
4. How do you use management?
5. Where should you get a manager?
6. What is the difference between a manager, a booking agent, and a talent buyer?
7. Do you need a management contract?
8. What should be in the contract? What should not be in the contract?
9. What kinds of management do you need?
10. Band member contracts
11. Putting together a team

And as much as can be covered in an hour and fifteen minutes!

There is no cost for this meeting if you are a paid member of COMBO. However, we are asking a $10 fee for non-members which will go entirely to COMBO, a not-for-profit organization. Payment may be made through our website and Paypal. http://www.coloradomusic.org

Be sure you have your drink and snacks handy when you sit down to join us. If you don’t have a camera on your computer, you can call in to join the discussion via telephone and to put in your more than 2 cents worth!

COMBO Meetings open to the public. All ages welcome.
