Photo: Alan Jackson | By Andrew Soergel, AARP | Join us for a free virtual concert and Veterans Day event honoring veterans’ service and sacrifice to our country, featuring award-winning country music star Alan Jackson and actor, humanitarian and AARP Ambassador for Veterans and Military Families, Gary Sinise. The event will feature veteran stories and highlight AARP’s free resources and information to help veterans and their families with caregiving, competing in today’s job market, fraud prevention and connecting with earned service benefits.
At the top of the concert, we’ll share a touching video about a Marine veteran whose dream of recording a country music song came true with help from Wish of a Lifetime from AARP (WOL). WOL worked with a Nashville recording studio to help Ray Espinoza, 86, record a song he had written decades ago about the pain of loving someone suffering from cancer. In addition to being a cancer survivor, Espinoza lost two adult children and his grandmother to the disease. Espinoza hopes the song will resonate with families who have experienced similar pain and can be used to advocate for cancer research.
The event begins on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET. It’s free to attend, but registration is required. Sign up today, and learn more about how we’re fighting for veterans and their loved ones.
