KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP 104.7 Present the Block Party Featuring Butcher Brown
Free show at Levitt Pavilion Denver brings two public radio communities together
DENVER, CO – KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP 104.7 are hosting the Block Party on August 28, 2026, as a part of Levitt Pavilion Denver’s Free Concert Series dedicated to building community through music. Headlined by Butcher Brown, this free event celebrates the fusion of jazz and hip-hop, inviting Denver to explore new musical ground. We’re bringing our two passionate public radio communities together with a set that rewires what you think of jazz and hip-hop.
“We are so grateful to our community and wanted to give them a free show as a thank you,” says Ayana Contreras, Vice President of Radio for Rocky Mountain Public Media. “This is our chance to showcase sounds that defy categories, while bringing people together for a night of joy.”
Butcher Brown is a multifaceted band from Richmond, Virginia, that calls their sound “solar music,” – an invitation to listen and feel a seamless blend of sounds – including jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk, R&B, alternative, soul, country, house, bossa nova, pop, and more.
- “We are the melting pot. We are the mix,” says band member Devonne “DJ Harrison” Harris.
- “It’s music for everybody,” trumpeter and saxophonist Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney adds.
- “Young, old, big, small, short, tall, they all start dancing eventually. It’s literally music for the whole solar system.”
Their upcoming project, “A Supreme Blue” (out July 24, 2026), celebrates the centennial year of jazz icons Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
