COMBO will hold its next General Meeting on Sunday, April 19th at the Breckenridge Brewery – Ballpark Pub, 2222 Blake Street, Denver (catty-corner from Coors Field). The program will be on “The International Music Scene”. Guest speakers will be Ashesh Dangol, Nepal; Kareem Hosem, Egypt; Nate Hamon, Australia; Ricardo Vallejos, Dubai UAE; Croyden Menezes, Oman; Duncan Webb, UK; Merethe Soltvedt, Norway; (Merethe will Skype in for the presentation), Alejandro Parra, Venezuela; and Navarat Varin, a music teacher from Thailand, who plays several different instruments. Both Alejandro and Navarat will be playing a few selections at the meeting as well.
Our guests will be answering questions such as: What CD format do other countries use? How much do CDs in your country typically cost to make and how much do they sell for? Do bands make more money here or there? Do bands get Royalty payments there as they do here? How much is the band’s ‘cut’ when a CD sells? Do they have ‘major’ Labels over in the foreign country and are they the same or different? Do they treat the artists better in the foreign country than they do in the US? Is there room for ‘American Style’ music in the other country? Does the other country allow other genres of music such as Rock, Blues, and Country rather than just ‘religious’ music?

Soaps, Shampoos, etc., Needed for Homeless
Got a bunch of those little bottle of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or little soaps laying around that you brought home from your stays in hotels and motels? Annette Cannon reminded us that she really could use those to help stuff care bags for the homeless.
Please bring them to the next COMBO meetings. We’ll be glad to “recycle” them for you. And if you don’t have any now, how ‘bout picking them up the next time you go out of town and bring them back with you. Betcha you never thought of giving them to help out less fortunate people.
