By Joe Nguyen & Katie Langford, Denver Post | A Colorado musician and father of two was killed by a suspected drunken driver near West 64th Avenue and Lamar Street in Arvada on Monday. Police and firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle crash at 3:39 p.m. Monday after a silver GMC pickup truck traveling east on 64th Avenue ran a red light at Lamar Street, hitting a maroon Toyota sedan and a gray Ford Bronco.

The crash caused the Toyota to go into a front yard and home in the northwest corner of the intersection. The driver of the Toyota, 44-year-old Kresten Wolff Thomsen, died at the scene, Arvada police said in a news release.

Two children riding in the sedan were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries. The driver of the Bronco was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, Arvada police said Monday. The driver of the GMC, 23-year-old Juan Ortega Torres Jr., was also taken to the hospital and is in police custody.

GoFundMe Set Up for Kresten’s Family to Help Cover Medical Bills & Other Expenses

Hello all, my name is Elyse and I am a registered nurse who works with Alicia Wolff. Alicia is a registered nurse at North Suburban Medical Center.

I am creating this gofundme on behalf of the Wolff family.

On February 5th, 2024 Alicia’s husband Kresten Wolff went to pick up their two children Ella (age 10) and Gabe (age 7) from school. On their way home, Kresten and the children were hit by a drunk driver, just a few miles from home. This drunk driver took the life of Kresten and has placed both of the children in the pediatric ICU here in Denver. This is a truly unfathomable tragedy. Kresten was a very talented musician who worked with the Denver ballet. [Their] two children love art . .
