COMBO member Marty Jones wanted us to know about these FREE events! Remember that one of our favorite guitarists Eddie Van Halen died of oral cancer. It could happen to you, too – especially if you are a smoker. Marty writes: April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month and I’m living proof of the big benefits of early detection of this deadly disease. (About 25 Americans die each day from oral cancer.) On April 13, my pals at Denver Beer Co have signed on to host free Check Your Mouth oral cancer screenings at three Denver Beer Co locations.
The screening will be done by Dr. Christopher Griffith (of Concierge Medical Care), the doctor who found a telltale lump in my neck in the summer of 2020 and helped save my life and my quality of life from the nightmare of tongue cancer. The screening takes less than five minutes and involve a quick visual inspection of the mouth, tongue and gums, and then a quick hands-on inspection of the neck and shoulders for lumps and abnormalities.
