Photo: Jimmy Ayers | A celebration of Jimmy Ayers’ life was held on August 20th. Jimmy would have loved the “celebration” and all the friends and bandmates who came! Jimmy’s life partner Monica Brown planned the event, and CW Wooten, Vince Converse & Big Brother, and Jimmy’s last band Deep Pocket Thieves performed. Jimmy went out in true musical New Orleans-style!

The Annual Steel Guitar Show was held at Dougie G’s in Northglenn on August 13th. Ten of Denver’s finest steel guitar players performed, each introduced by Dan Willging (Big Daddy) from KGNU Community Radio.
This was an awesome task carried out by Tony Ortega who not only set the schedule and performed, but saw to it that totally different songs were played by these guitarists: Ernie Martinez, Daniel Jones, Chuck Lettes, George Sypert, Bob Case, Kent Davis, Jerry Fessenden,
John Macy, and Glenn Taylor.
We definitely would recommend putting this event on your “Things To Do Every Year” calender! Events like these shape our futures by making an impact on our daily lives.
