Kevin American Classic Piano

Kevin! American Classic Piano’s newest tech!

By Holly Smith, American Classic Piano | It’s been a very LONG year….have you missed us as much as we’ve missed you….and festivals….and seeing faces? No Bluegrass or Jazz festivals, no house concerts, or garden and home show.

On the up side, people have been listening to and playing their pianos more. Warren [Baker] has done a record number of player system retrofits and upgrades. As I’m typing this, he’s doing a retrofit in Edwards in the mountains.

And now (drum roll) meet our newish tech, Kevin. He’s already tuned for many of you, but I’m late introducing him. Not only does Kevin tune pianos, but he also teaches piano, drums, voice, and guitar. Let me know if you’d like to connect with him about teaching. I want to get the credit.

Keep your eyes on the light at the end of this COVID tunnel and hope that it’s not an oncoming train. Stay safe, everyone.

A hundred years ago, before iPod, TV, radio or phonograph, the heart of the American home was the beloved upright piano. The children practiced every day; Grandma played for family gatherings; the top was cluttered with doilies, figurines, and the picture of handsome Uncle Verne in his uniform.

Many of those beautiful, hand-crafted, classic American pianos have survived the century. They were built to last and with some TLC and expert craftsmanship they can be made even better than new.

A hundred years later we can use advanced materials and state-of-the-art equipment to rebuild them. They can become, again, the center of the home providing beauty, elegance and music even to a home without an accomplished pianist.
