Photo: Gus Ormo | By David Goodhue, Miami Herald | A man’s body was found tied up in a pool behind a house in a gated community in Weston Friday morning, according to emergency dispatch calls.
A dispatcher was heard on emergency radio scanner communications saying the body was in the pool and “tied up.” A WPLG helicopter flying over the property captured footage of a body and what appeared to be a rope strewn on the deck and leading into the pool.

The home is owned by Venezuelan musician Gustavo Ormo, who goes by Gus Ormo professionally. The singer-songwriter and pianist promoted his new record, AGAPE, earlier this month, according to a press release.

Sheriff’s Office releases identity of man found dead in Weston pool with rope

The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the man found dead in a Weston backyard pool Friday morning is Venezuelan-born singer/songwriter Gustavo “Gus” Ormo. Deputies were called out to the Quail Roost Drive home around 9 a.m. after receiving a call of a possible drowning. They found the body in the pool, according to emergency dispatch audio, and tied to a long rope. News helicopter footage showed the rope strewn on the deck and leading to the pool.

The Miami Herald has reached out to Ormo’s family. Family members gathered at his home Friday declined to speak with a Herald reporter. Ormo, 45, was a piano player and singer. He promoted his new album, AGAPE, earlier this month.
