By Megan Briggs Pintel | College of Arts & Media | For the sixth year in a row, CU Denver has been named to Billboard Magazine’s list of best music business schools. Whether their aspirations are to manage the next Taylor Swift or set themselves up for a career in entertainment law, students will find the training, guidance, and network they need to succeed at CU Denver and beyond.
“We’re especially honored that this recognition comes by way of Billboard, the leader in coverage of the music industry, in which so many of our alumni are working,” says Associate Professor and Music Business Program Director Storm Gloor, MBA. “It’s also the publication that our current students and faculty consistently turn to as a resource for our classes,” Gloor adds.
About CU Denver’s Music Business Program
At CU Denver, students learn from platinum-selling and award-winning faculty with real-world experience and strong connections within the industry.
Nestled within the College of Arts & Media’s (CAM) contemporary Music & Entertainment Industry Studies department, the music business degree track has students studying alongside music performance, recording arts, and singer/songwriting students, giving them ample opportunity to collaborate. This dynamic, coupled with Denver’s robust music scene and our industry-savvy faculty, give students the foundation needed to launch their careers.
Over the years, CAM faculty have arranged partnerships with local music venues and companies like AEG and Live Nation, providing our students with valuable internships and experiential learning opportunities. Students also actively engage with community non-profit organizations, including Youth on Record, Women in Music, Levitt Pavilion, and Music Minds Matter. They’ve been actively involved in local music events, including the Underground Music Showcase and Colorado Music Industry Association showcases.
Outside the classroom, students have even more opportunity to get involved through student organizations, such as a student chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association, MISA (Music Industry Student Association), Grammy U, and our homegrown Denver Lynx Radio (CU Denver’s first student radio, launched by music business students two years ago).
Graduates of CU Denver’s music business program have gone on to work in venue management, publishing, artist management, and music streaming services. To see some of the places a degree in music business has taken our alumni, check out our Music Business Alumni page:
