By Zara Irshad, San Francisco Chronicle | Less than a month before from his highly-anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Bad Bunny has been hit with a $16 million lawsuit over the use of an allegedly unauthorized voice recording. Tainaly Y. Serrano Rivera filed a 32-page suit against the reggaeton star in Puerto Rico on Monday, Jan. 5. Rivera claims that her voice is featured on Bad Bunny’s 2018 track “Solo de Mi” and his 2025 hit “EoO” without her consent.
In the audio, she delivers the line “Mira, puñeta, no me quiten el perreo,” which roughly translates to “Look, damn it, don’t take away my perreo,” referring to the hip-driven dance style often associated with reggaeton music.
According to the lawsuit, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has used the catchphrase during concerts and to sell merchandise.
Rivera alleges in the lawsuit that the Grammy-winner’s longtime producer La Paciencia, whose real name is Roberto Rosado, asked her to record the line when they were both students at the Interamerican University of Arecibo in 2018. She claims she never signed a contract and was not informed that the recording was going to be used for commercial or advertising purposes.
She is now requesting that Bad Bunny and his label, Rimas Entertainment, pay $16 million for publicity rights and privacy violations.
