Photo: Omni Interlocken Hotel – where the Durango Songwriters Expo is going on! | I’m thinking about all the great instrumental songs we had submitted for our Songwriting Contest and wondering how & where these songs could be sold. AND THEN – TA, DA! I get put “on hold” and I’m listening to the songs looping and it occurs to me, ‘WOW! The perfect place for a songwriter to make money.” So I Googled in “How do I get my music on hold music platforms” and came up with the NPR article on “Hold Music”. Check it out at below or on our website under the “Music Notes” category!

Our guest speakers Storm Gloor, Nikki Swarn, and Dean McCall passed along some great ideas on Marketing yourself, your band, and your music at last Monday’s meeting. We thank them so much for passing along information that it took them years to learn! Best hint: Start your Marketing Plan when you start your Recording Plan. They need to work hand-in-hand, and side-by-side for your success! October 24th’s meeting will feature Attorney Dave Ratner with a follow-up to what needs to go along with the Marketing strategies!

Barb went to see the Davie Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream at the Sie Film Center last week. It had lots of clips of real-life interviews of Mr. Bowie who died at the age of 69 from cancer. He was a multi-talented man who not only wrote his own songs but arranged and recorded them, designed his own ‘costumes’, planned his shows, painted, and so much more. The movie is highly recommended so see it if you get a chance.
