Our sincerest THANKS to Erica Brown for speaking at our February Program. She talked about how much peoples from Africa influenced American culture in music, dance, art and fashion. She also told about her background in music and how she came to land in Denver from her birthplace in SE Missouri. Erica lamented the lack of full-time blues clubs in the Denver area, too. Update on Elijah McClain case: Officer Randy Rodema is appealing his conviction, the only person involved in this horrible incident to be convicted. Article below. Sentencing for one of the paramedics is scheduled for Friday, March 1st.

Dave Stasney in Colorado Tribute & Cover Bands: A tip for those that need this: We have beat this topic to death in this group but it will always be a thing. Two weeks is pretty loose, too. For your own act, you should want be at least a month & 30 if you are protecting your draw. Then there are others who wait at least 3 months and 60 miles. This doesn’t apply to cover bands playing for small guarantees. Barb responded: I would schedule my bands a show in the Denver area, then CO Springs, then Ft. Collins, back to Aurora, then CS & FC. Maybe throw in Pueblo & Cheyenne. That way they only played the Denver area every 3 months (but were playing at least once a month somewhere) and they usually brought in good crowds whereupon they would get guaranteed pay even for a pretty-much all original songs show!
