Photo: Dr. Saxy (Jose Luis Hinojosa) | Just returned from Las Vegas, NV. Good to see the Strip and Fremont Street “back to life” but, at this time, it is really a mess. They are prepping for an F1 race and they’ve built bleachers everywhere and added lighting for the night-time races. The Sphere is marvelous as is the new extremely diverse show “Awakening” (music, dance, theater, graphics, holograms, cirque, and the most amazing moving stage in the round). Be aware, though, that we paid more than $430 for a Saturday night hotel room at one of the regular hotels – the same one we paid $120 for in 2022! However, live bands have now reappeared in many of the clubs not only at night but during the day! And there are buskers on every corner. I had to stop my mantra of “Always Tip a Musician” as I was going broke! But a casual conversation at the Wynn waterfall with Jose Luis Hinojosa, a/k/a Dr. Saxy, of McAllen, TX, a saxophonist, introduced me to a wonderful new musician! Jose has already signed up for our newsletter and I know he’ll glean some valuable information from it! Check Jose out at https://www.gigheaven.com/members/drsaxy.html

The trials in the Elijah McClain incident (a violinist who was just walking down the street) continue. Ex-officer Nathan Woodyard is charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide in the matter. The prosecution has rested its case, and Mr. Woodyard took the stand yesterday in his defense. Of course he is blaming the other officers and the EMTs (who go on trial next month). We will continue to follow this horrible murder case to the end. Justice for Elijah… such a hollow statement. At least his death got the laws regarding the use of Ketamine changed.
