Did you know that Irving Berlin, the writer of “White Christmas” was of the Jewish faith? And his baby son died on Christmas Day (December 25th)? How sad – and ironic. It shows that songwriters cross a lot of lines and genres when creating songs that come to their hearts and that appeal to the general masses – no matter their religion or race. Music transcends all.

The Kennedy Center Honors show was magical. Pearl Jam’s Eddy Vedder blew the roof off in recognition of the Irish band U2 (Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr.)! Other honorees were Tania León (a pianist and classical music composer originally from Cuba), Gladys Knight, Amy Grant, and George Clooney – each a gifted artist in their own right. If you get a chance to watch it, please do! The show was diverse and had performers and emcees from other countries as well as from so many of the races that make up the USA! The Kennedy Center Honors was the late President John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s dream to honor the many artists that form American dreams and encourage our country’s citizens to pursue their passions and talents that make our country really, truly GREAT. | The show was followed by Steve Hartman’s show on kindness – how little acts of kindness can change the world. So many clever ideas that people followed through on. (CBS heard me and sent the following link! . . .
