Boad Member and Webmaster David Barber has posted the video of Attorney Dave Ratner’s talk on October 24th. Remember, if you are a dues-paying member of COMBO, you can watch it in its entirety. Dave gave us some good pointers on how you can monetize your music but you have to be registered in a number of places to do so. I was actually appalled to find that a friend of mine has been shopping his music around. Not only has he NOT registered his music for copyright, he is not with ASCAP, BMI or SESAC or with SoundExchange or several others so he is missing out on some bucks there!

Board Member T-Loop writes that he has posted in our Spotify playlist for November some great “Chill Out” instrumentals! Find them here at:

I attended a showing of the movie “Louis Armstrong: Black and Blues” at the Sie Film Center. Another one of those horror stories of the entertainers of color who filled the entertainment venues and hotel showrooms — but couldn’t eat or stay at them and had to enter through the back door. I just can’t get over those injustices. We really need to stop judging a person by the color of his or her skin (“better tans”).

COMBO is in need of volunteers to help with events like the Guitar Show, school Career Days, the Durango Songwriters Expo, and others. These can be “one off” times for the helpers. Please send a note to Barb at president@coloradomusic.org and let her know if you’d be able to help.
