Photo: COMBO Board Members Annette & Tracey at the Combined Expos | Spotlight on Suicide. Sadly this week we experienced the suicide of superstar Naomi Judd, 76, a battle she’d been fighting for years. She was very open about her depression and mental illness. We saw how that affected her daughters and the music community. Also Kailia Posey took her own life. Kailia was a beautiful, intelligent, and personable 16 year old pageant winner with a wonderful tomorrow projected in her future. These are not the only people suffering from depression, bi-polar disorder, or other forms of “the blues”.
.
Many times we do not see this coming but are we really watching for “the signs”? We also go into DENIAL that OUR loved ones could do anything so drastic as to take their own life. Every week we publish the Suicide Hotline number: 1-800-273-TALK under the “In Case You Missed It” header. Keep it handy. Pass it along. You may save a life.

Suicide affects the family and friends in horrible ways, too, for the rest of their lives. Everyday I wish I’d been able to say something to my best friend Jackie that would have helped her to hang on until her life got better and may have saved her mother’s life for she, too, committed suicide a few years later as she could not go on after Jackie died.
