We’re having some trouble with getting (your) song entered into our Songwriting Contest. Please just send your song as an MP3 URL to info@coloradomusic.org and T-Loop will enter them. Be sure to include all songwriters’ names, title of the song, e-mail, phone number, and lyrics. Then go to the website and hit the “Enter Song Contest” to pay the fee – unless, of course, you are already a dues paying member! One free entry then!

Laurie D’s Green Tip of the month: Please use a real coffee cup or a reusable cup! In 2011, I went on a big music road trip back east. The image of an enormous amount of trash being picked up in front of a Starbucks in NYC sticks with me. I asked the manager how often his trash is picked up and he said every day it’s like this.
He estimated his store uses around 2000 paper cups (not recyclable with a plastic coating) per day. I looked online and found there to be 171 Starbucks just in Manhattan (there’s even more today). So to be conservative, let’s multiply 171 x 1500 cups equals 256,500 cups. That’s a quarter of a million cups a day in a 23 square mile area! Around the world that’s BILLIONS of [just Starbucks] cups going to landfills EVERY DAY!!!
When you’re ordering your coffee in house and staying, please use a real cup. Use a reusable cup for traveling. A nice stainless steel cup keeps your coffee nice and hot! Think about how many trees are cut down to make paper products like these. Trees are our lungs of the earth absorbing CO2.
Every time you buy something, every time you throw something away, think about where is it coming from and where is it going! The solution starts with us musicians! (Got to be a song there).
.
It occurred to me, while doing the Other Notable Musicians Deaths segment that we never see musicians from most countries in the Middle East like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and more. Makes me wonder if a talented person is allowed to even play an instrument there.
