Photo: Rocky Mountain Brass – St. Pat’s Day Concert! | Not only is it sad to hear of Chris Dellinger’s cancer diagnosis but he & his wife Lola have had to put their business Wild Goose Saloon in Parker up for sale. It is such a nice venue and we’re hoping that someone who wants to continue its legacy buys it. And don’t forget, if you haven’t yet donated to the GoFundMe for Chris, here is the URL to help you help Chris:

We want to thank Bret Dallas for the very interesting and informative talk at our February meeting. I’ve added a summary to our “Buyer Beware” category and it’s below. He had some great advice to share.
.
Anniversaries this week: Hotel California by the Eagles; Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover; and lots more. Hard to believe these songs are 50 or more years old.

From Chuck Morris: As you might know, this week is my 81st birthday. Please don’t send me any gifts as I am lucky to have everything I want. If you feel like contributing in my name, I’d love it! If you send any amount to the great public station where my show is on every Sunday, it is tax deductible. It’s Uncle Chuck’s Music Box, and KRFC-FM is a wonderful public station in Fort Collins and my show has been on over 2 years every Sunday at 3 p.m. Have lots of stars calling in! EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert movie review: OMG! The music, the songs, the moves! Elvis speaks for himself in this “concert movie.” Baz Luhrman used clips from interviews with Elvis for Elvis himself to tell his story. The film mixes concert footage with some of El’s movies which makes it unique because so few other musicians/superstars have been in movies of any note [pun intended]. I stayed for the credits and was surprised to not see James Burton, The Sweet Inspirations, or anyone else in the band for that matter being named. There were 5 young people at the start of the movie in the audience but they got up and left. That was disappointing to me as I felt they would have found a new idol had they stayed. The movie is kind of long but probably the length of some of El’s concerts. FYI: Elvis performed more than 1,100 concerts from 1969 through 1977 – sometimes performing 3 shows in one day. Definitely a must see!
.
Concert tour notes: Metallica signs on for residency in Las Vegas; Darius Rucker hits the road;

Finally got around to catching up on Memberships this weekend. I note that we have a couple of people who joined as “Supporters.” Their “support” is truly appreciated! Only $20 to do that! And an EXTRA “Thank You” to those who have joined or re-upped. We LOVE YOU!
.
One of the benefits of joining COMBO as a paid member is that we do our best to promote you and your music to our more than 2,400 names on our mailing list plus untold amounts to Facebook and “X” (f/k/a Twitter). However this benefit is for “Dues Paying” members only! If you’d like to get that benefit for one year, please consider either joining or re-upping your dues! Only $30 for an individual, $55 for a band (get the whole band to pitch in) and, if you have a music-related business, only $95 for that entity. Please check to see when the last time you “re-upped” was or let Barb know and she’ll check our records for you. We have lots of people sending in shows who haven’t helped us out for a LONG TIME!!! 🙂
.
Go to our website at https://www.coloradomusic.org and hit the “Join COMBO” button. If you’d prefer to not use a credit card, you may send a check for the proper amount to COMBO, PO Box 18186, Denver CO 80218 instead. (Actually this helps us out even more as we don’t have to pay fees to Paypal!)
.
