Our sincerest THANKS to Chris SD of Sync Songwriter for his talk about the importance of having your songs ready for submission to Sync people. He’s earned five Juno Awards (and seven nominations, including Engineer of the Year), built a reputation as the ‘go-to guy for sync’ for indie songwriters, and helps them get placed in top TV, film, and ad campaigns. Through his flagship online program, The Art of the Song Pitch, he not only teaches artists how to license their music but also personally introduces songwriters to industry-leading music supervisors. Chris is an award-winning music producer, sync licensing mentor, blogger, and founder of Sync Songwriter (https://syncsongwriter.com).
.
We also want to thank Chris’ Assistant Nicole Poulos for helping to coordinate this talk, to COMBO members Jamie Krutz (https://www.jamiekrutz.com) for moderating the talk, to Todd Caron for manning the “Chat Room,” to VP Annette Cannon for her opening remarks, and to Barb’s neighbor Jackie for jumping in and helping out in the most important way possible to make this meeting happen! Your help is appreciated SO MUCH.

COMBO lost one of its loyal members Pat Badwound a couple of weeks ago. She sent a song into our Songwriting Contest that the judges all loved but she didn’t want it considered for the competition. We’ve honored her by posting it in our In Memoriam section.

Just another reminder: The Durango Songwriters Expo in Ventura, CA will be held February 19-21st. Registration is open right now! Https://www.durangosongwriters.com (Note new URL)

I got an American Greetings birthday card from my sister. It is an AI of Lainey Wilson and her band singing and playing a “Birthday Song” dedicated to me – complete with my name and good wishes! Lots of fun and I sincerely hope that American Greetings has licensed the work.
.
One of the benefits of joining COMBO as a paid member is that we do our best to promote you, your shows, and your music to our more than 2,400 names mailing lists plus untold amounts to Facebook and “X” (f/k/a Twitter). However this benefit is for “Dues Paying” members only! If you’d like to get that benefit for one year, please consider either joining or re-upping your dues! Only $30 for an individual, $55 for a band (get the whole band to pitch in) and, if you have a music-related business, only $95 for that entity. Please check to see when the last time you “re-upped” was or let Barb know and she’ll check our records for you. We see lots of people sending in shows who haven’t helped us out for a LONG TIME!!! 🙂
.
Go to our website at https://www.coloradomusic.org and hit the “Join COMBO” button. If you’d prefer to not use a credit card, you may send a check for the proper amount to COMBO, PO Box 18186, Denver CO 80218 instead. (Actually this helps us out even more as we don’t have to pay fees to Paypal!)
.
COMBO is about the LOVE of Music and the musicians who create and play songs. We do our best to educate and offer an exchange of information, guidance and advice to help musicians advance their careers no matter what genre they play.
