The GoFundMe for the Brightwood Music Store in Nederland that burned down a couple of weeks ago is short about $2,000 from its goal. While there will be insurance to cover some of the cost, insurance companies always figure out some way NOT to pay out the full premium. The Armitage family will still need “instant cash” to build shelving, buy stock, and other furnishings to help them get back to business.

Please donate a few dollars to help out as soon as you can:

Our townhall guest speaker last Monday was none other than G. Brown, author of 17 books on the Colorado Music scene. Some are sort of historical books; others more of a “tour guide” for your music enjoyment. Regardless, the talk was very interesting and we want to thank Mr. Brown for taking his time to speak to our attendees!

STUPID!!! The controversy over the selection of Bad Bunny to appear for the Super Bowl’s half-time show is one of the DUMBEST things I’ve ever heard!!! Not only is a large part of the earth’s population Spanish speaking but Jennifer Lopez and Shakira sang in Spanish when they appeared with SPECIAL GUEST Bad Bunny back in 2019. This is obviously racism against a Latino – who happens to be a U.S. citizen!!!

COMBO’s president Barb Dye did a podcast with Ty McIntosh Campbell of 5280 Archive on Tues., Oct. 21st. You can find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUr-iNf_A7U | Barb spoke as to her role in managing bands, in booking several venues from 1989 thru the 2000’s, and how much musicians are so ignorant of the business of music.

Steve Sirockin has written a nice tribute to his friend, former bandmate, and former Coloradoan Steve Reid. We’ve posted it under “Other Notable Musicians Deaths.”

His booking agent has been working overtime! Nathaniel Rateliff appeared as a guest guitarist on Stephen Colbert! I was surprised to see Mr. Rateliff playing with Louis Cato and the Late Show Band on October 16, 2025.
